Workshop and Volunteer Activity: Fruit Tree Guilds (10-11 AM)
Learn about Fruit Tree Guilds- What are they? How do they support a thriving, food-producing ecosystem? How can you plant them in your yard or neighborhood? Learn about beneficial companion plants for common Louisiana fruit trees with Baton Roots and Baton Rouge Green staff. Afterward, join us in planting the first demonstration guilds in the orchard at Baton Roots Community Farm! Participants are able to take home any produce harvested at the farm as well as a small fruit tree to plant at home. This activity requires a fair amount of walking, some bending, lifting, and shoveling. Reach out to batonroots@thewallsproject.org for additional accommodations as needed. This program is supported by a grant through the USDA Forest Service.
